How to Prepare for Your New Flooring Being Fitted

Step-By-Step Guide on How to Prepare for Your New Flooring Being Fitted

It is important to follow the steps to prepare for your flooring being fitted in your home because it helps to ensure that the installation process goes smoothly and efficiently. By taking the time to prepare in advance, you can minimize disruptions and delays during the installation process, which can save you time and money.

To prepare your home for the day of your flooring installation, follow these steps:

Complete any door adjustments beforehand

If the new flooring will change the height of the floor, you may need to make adjustments to the doors to ensure that they open and close properly. If this needs doing this would have been mentioned when we came to measure up.

Create a designated work zone

We appreciate this isn’t always possible, but this will help to keep the area organised and make it easier for our installers to work.

Clear the area

Remove any clutter or obstacles that may get in the way of the installation process, including breakables or items in storage areas and closets.

Ventilate with fresh air

This will help to reduce dust and fumes during the installation process. And also, it can get pretty hot in a small room when we’re installing new flooring.

Keep children and pets safe

Please keep them out of the work zone during the installation process as we don’t want any mishaps and we want to ensure everyone stays safe.

Block out your calendar

Sometimes we will need to ask questions. It’s always handy is someone is available to answer any questions or address any issues that may arise during the installation process.

Communicate with us

If you have any specific needs or need any additional services, please let us know as soon as possible and we will do our best to accommodate.

Remove all furniture

Clear the room of any furniture to make it easier for our installers to work.

Disconnect gas appliances and electronics

If we’re working in your kitchen, we may need you to arrange for the disconnection of any gas appliances. We might also need any electronics to be tuned off and removed in any room flooring is being installed in.

Clean all floors properly

Even though it old flooring we would appreciate it if you could give it a quick clean to remove any dirt or debris so we can work in a clean and safe environment.

Verify the inside temperature

Some flooring might require its only fit above or below a certain temperature to ensure its fit correctly. Please make sure that the temperature inside the room is appropriate for installation (depending on the flooring we’re fitting you will be advised about this).

While it may not be possible to complete every item on this list, it's important to do your best to prepare your home for the flooring installation. This will help to ensure that everyone has a pleasant experience and that your new floor is installed efficiently and effectively.

We’re always looking to improve our service, so if you think there’s anything we’ve missed, please let us know.

We look forward to installing your new floor and creating better and more enjoyable spaces for everyone.
